Nigerian music producer and singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently revealed that he has the contact information of at least 14 different country presidents stored in his phone.
The singer made this disclosure during his appearance at the ‘Elevate Africa’ event, where he discussed the opportunities his musical career has created for him and his family.
Davido proudly shared, “Aside from my dad’s businesses and wealth, I know how many doors my music has opened for my family. Yes o, forget the money. I have 14 presidents’ phone numbers. I can call them directly. In every country we go to, the president wants to meet us. That’s also promoting our culture. It’s an amazing feeling.”
The entertainer also touched on the contrast between his career and the more traditional paths in his family, stating, “Every other person are doctors, lawyers, uhn uhn… governor. But I am a first-generation entertainer in my family. My uncle does something like that…sic.”
Davido went on to explain the initial tension with his family over his career choice, recalling, “There was a basic strategy in my family. You go to school, and after school there is an office waiting for you in the company. But I was the one to say no no no… I want to do it this way. And there was a long battle.”
The singer humorously added that his father didn’t initially know how successful he would become, saying, “My dad didn’t know it was gonna be this lit for me… since.”
