BREAKING: Many Confirmed Dead In Enugu Fuel Tanker Explosion [Video]

A devastating fuel tanker explosion occurred on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Ugwu Onyeama, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, claiming the lives of at least 15 individuals.

The explosion, which took place around 11:30 AM, resulted in a massive fire that consumed a busy expressway, as the fuel-laden tanker exploded in a fierce blaze.

Witnesses described the incident as chaotic and horrifying, with the force of the explosion shattering nearby vehicles and plunging the area into panic. Rescue operations were severely hindered by the intensity of the flames, making it difficult for bystanders and emergency responders to reach those affected.

Tragically, some of the victims were reportedly burnt beyond recognition, likely occupants of vehicles that were caught in the inferno.

At this point, authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion and have not yet confirmed the exact number of casualties.

In a statement, the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Transport in Enugu State, Odumegwu Chinwendu, confirmed the incident and advised travelers to avoid the area. He recommended using alternative routes, particularly Milki Hill Side, to ensure safety, urging heavy-duty trucks to park and await further instructions.

Chinwendu urged the public to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines as the investigation into the incident continues.
