
As of Monday, April 7, 2025, the U.S. dollar exchanged for the Nigerian naira at the Lagos parallel market (commonly referred to as the black market) at a buying rate of ₦1,555 and a selling rate of ₦1,565, according to sources within the Bureau De Change (BDC) network.
It’s important to highlight that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not officially recognize the black market as a legitimate channel for foreign exchange transactions. The CBN continues to advise individuals and businesses seeking foreign currency to carry out their transactions through authorized financial institutions, particularly commercial banks.
