We must equip Nigerian children to be globally competitive, says Gbajabiamila

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has stressed the need to equip Nigerian children to be globally competitive while preparing them for future challenges and global competition with the right modern tools.

Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi quoted the Speaker saying this was responsible for his several interventions in the nation’s education sector through proactive laws and personal efforts.

He said one such effort among others was the Gbajabiamila Summer Coding Camp held across five secondary schools in Surulere 1 Federal Constituency, where children from all parts of Lagos State were taught coding as a way of introducing them to computers and enhancing their computer literacy and artificial intelligence.

The Gbaja Summer Coding Camp facilitated by Pearl Africa was launched by the Speaker on August 16.

Lasisi said participating students made presentations on what they learnt at the coding camp to the excitement of guests and a panel of judges during the closing ceremony conducted through zoom.
