There is serious panic and confusion in the camp of the APC presidential candidate, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the outstanding accuracy of Peter Obi’s statistical grip of Nigeria’s data.
Gists9ja gathered that Tinubu’s camp is afraid of allowing the APC’s presidential candidate appear in a Live media chat or debate with the Labour party candidate. They are afraid of how Obi reels out figures and data of every sectors of the economy and think it will be a major embarrassment to their candidate if he appears alongside Obi in any media session.
According to a source privy to the meeting of Tinubu’s inner circle, Obi is seen as a huge threat to their presidential project. During the meeting, it was suggested that all media invitations which must bring Obi and Tinubu together to discuss the challenges and solutions of Nigeria if elected must be avoided.
The camp suggested that any media chat must either be recorded or done by a friendly media platform. They said Obi has grip of our GDP, inflation rates, unemployment growth rate and every other statistical data. Obi can reel these data off hand and equate them with economic differences of other countries. No other candidate can match him on this.
They agreed that while their candidate can appear with the PDP’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for any media engagement, that of Obi must be avoided.
Another area the camp of Tinubu is afraid is going to meet the Nigeria professionals overseas to engage them and discuss his manifesto with them. While Obi has been visiting many countries in Europe and America, meeting with Nigerians in Diaspora, the camp of the APC presidential candidate noted at the meeting that Nigeria professionals abroad are unhappy with the situation back home especial the insecurity that has prevent most of them from returning to the country.
Some of them suggested to invite only Nigerians in Diaspora who are supporters of Asiwaju but those who oppose the idea said such could open them up for media attack since Obi throws open his invitations and allows all Nigerians in Diaspora to attend his events and interact with him.
Peter Obi has brought in disruptions to all camps in this election. He is the only major presidential candidate who appears on Live media chats and attend interactive sessions with Nigerians. While Atiku of PDP only had a pre recorded media chat with Arise television, Tinubu is yet to grant any interview with media platforms.
The level of Obi’s knowledge and how he reels out economic data with reference to other countries is causing fears in the camp of APC presidential candidate.
