Adebanjo Calls Out Igbos For Not Supporting Obi Financially Despite Being Billionaires

Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere, has tackled some wealthy people from the South-East region for not giving financial support to the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the forthcoming election.

It should be recalled that Ayo Adebanjo had adopted the former Anambra State Governor as his preferred candidate in the 2023 presidential election, and had described him as the best candidate in the race. He also maintained that for the sake of equity and fairness, the next President of Nigeria should come from the South-East region.

While speaking at an event which was organized in Lagos for the late President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Professor George Obiozor, Pa Adebanjo lamented that many people from the South-East are billionaires, yet they are not supporting Peter Obi financially in his presidential bid.

In the report which was made by Sahara Reporters on Thursday, he said – “Unfortunately, the Igbos are not giving Obi financial support… I know that you people (Igbos) are billionaires…”

Speaking about the late George Obiozor, he said that Obiozor shouldn’t have gone now because the country “is in a middle of a great battle.” He said that when the names of the people who gave this country recognition and respect are mentioned, the late Obiozor’s name is one of those names that should be mentioned. He said that he was a pride to Nigeria.
