It would be recalled that a young woman identified as Bina Jennifer, Effidi became popular for her bravery after pictures of her coming to vote despite being injured went viral on social media.
A lot of people took to different social media platforms to shower praises on her for being brave to come out again to vote after she was attacked the first time.
In a recent video interview Jennifer had with BBC Pidgin, she explained how the whole incident happened and why she decided to come and cast her vote after getting injured.
According to Jenifer, she said that she decided to come back to her polling unit and vote because she knew her vote was important and that it could make a difference. She also said that if she was given the opportunity to go back to that day, she was still going to come out and vote.
Speaking on how she got injured, when some thugs attacked her polling unit, people began to run and she felt something hit her eye and she initially thought she was shot, until people came to help her and told her it was not a bullet wound. After she was taken to a hospital, where she received first-aid treatment, she still came back to the polling unit to cast her vote.
Quoting Jennifer from the video, “The voting process was still going on smoothly, we were still there and like 30 minutes later I just saw people running, I felt a huge impact on my face, like something was thrown on me. Instantly I heard gunshot.”
“Initially, I felt that I have been shot at, I thought that it was a bullet that hit me. People were running and looking for where to put their head too, I just held my face and I felt blood dripping down my hand. After leaving the hospital, after I have been treated, on my way back home, I decided to stop back to cast my vote, because I know my vote is important and it can make a difference.”
