Nigerians on social media have reacted to a trending video of an alleged local lawyer who burnt his customary white wig following the judgement of the presidential Tribunal regarding the 2023 general elections.
The Tribunal on Wednesday dismissed petitions filed by the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, and his counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Tribunal, while ruling on whether the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was right to return All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as the duly elected by a majority of lawful votes cast, held that Atiku did not successfully prove his petition seeking to remove Tinubu from office.
The Tribunal also struck out the petition filed by Peter Obi.
The judgment was delivered by the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Haruna Tsammani, assisted by other members of the panel-Justices Stephen Adah, Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Moses Ugo and Abba Mohammed.
Reacting to the development, a lawyer was seen setting his wig on fire to express his displeasure over the judgment.
The lawyer’s action attracted condemnation from citizens who found it extreme and unnecessary.
