Four persons have been reportedly kidnapped in Oganiru Estate, Awka, Anambra State, by suspected Yahoo boys.
The estate situated opposite popular Esther Obiakor Estate, along Ifite area of Awka, sharing boundary with Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) is said to have been recently invaded by Yahoo boys who live there.
Information has it that about 13 Yahoo boys occupy one of the flats in the estates, raising fears among residents.
It was also gathered that the Yahoo boys pulled down a section of the fence from where they sneak in and out of the estate without using the main gate.
According to sources in the estate, “What the boys do is to trail their target from the estate and kidnap the person outside to make it look like they are not involved
“As we speak, about four members of the estate had been kidnapped in the recent time. We also noticed that they don’t attend meetings in the estate.
It was further learnt that most of the inhabitants of Oganiru Estate were medical doctors, lawyers, academics and Journalists.
Some of the residents living around the estate in speaking with our correspondent said that they were no longer comfortable in the area, saying that occupants of the estate had decided to involve security operatives in addition to the ones in place.
Meanwhile, parts of the fence allegedly pulled down at the back of the estate by the Yahoo boys are already undergoing repair.
