Terrorists Abduct Catholic Priest In Zamfara

Terrorists on Saturday, June 22, abducted Reverend Father Mikah Suleiman, parish priest of St. Raymond Catholic Church Damba in Gusau, Zamfara.

The abduction took place at the Father’s rectory within the church premises.

The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, led by Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, confirmed the incident in a statement through its acting Chancellor, Very Revd. Fr. Nuhu Iliya.

The Diocese expressed grave concern over the recurring abduction of priests nationwide, underscoring the escalating security challenges faced by religious communities. It emphasised the urgent need for enhanced vigilance and security measures to safeguard not only religious leaders but all Nigerians.

The Damba community has recently experienced multiple attacks by bandits, resulting in numerous abductions and displacements of residents to safer areas.

Zamfara police authorities have confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts are underway to track down the kidnappers and secure the safe release of Father Mikah.
