A Commissioner with the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Hakeem Bamgbola, has condemned the assault on the All Progressives Congress (APC) state Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, by protesters from Alimosho Local Government.
He described the action as condemnable.
Bamgbola, the former state secretary of the party, noted that such behaviour had serious implications for the progress and future of the party, tarnishing its image and reputation in the eyes of the public.
According to him, the action created a perception of chaos and lawlessness within the party ranks, “which is damaging to its credibility and ability to govern effectively.”
Bamgbola, former state vice chairman of APC, said the party must demonstrate its commitment to upholding the rule of law, discipline, and unity to regain public trust and move forward positively.
Conflict resolution, he said, should be guided by principles of fairness, justice and mutual respect to guarantee the party’s strength and effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate.
Also condemning the action, APC state spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said the sacrifices of the founding fathers of the party to engender democracy cannot be sacrificed on the altar of indiscipline and intolerance.
He said Ojelabi has continuously sought the peaceful co-existence of all party members in every cradle and cranny of the state.
