Rtn. Ebuka Prince Nnorom has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the South East Development Commission, SEDC into law.
Gists9ja earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday signed into law bills creating two new regional development commissions in Nigeria.
The bills include the North West Development Commission, NWDC, sponsored by Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, and the South East Development Commission, SEDC, sponsored by Ben Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Reacting, Nnorom in a statement issued on Wednesday said “the signing of the South East Development Commission bill into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following its passage by the National Assembly, marks a significant milestone for the South East zone. Sponsored by Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, this achievement is a testament to the region’s resilience and determination.”
“Since the devastating effects of the Biafran War (1967-1970), the South East has faced significant challenges in rebuilding and reintegrating into the Nigerian economy. The war resulted in immense human suffering, economic devastation, and infrastructure destruction.”
