Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, the lawmaker representing Aba North and Aba South in the House of Representatives, has pledged to fully address accusations circulating on social media that he assaulted a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseye, who had delivered a package to him.
Speaking with Vanguard on Monday evening, Ikwechegh noted that he had received numerous calls from across the country after a video went viral in which Abuwatseye claims the lawmaker threatened and assaulted him.
Ikwechegh stated he would release a detailed response on Tuesday to clarify the matter.
The incident gained attention after a video surfaced, allegedly showing Ikwechegh slapping and verbally confronting the driver at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.
In the footage, the lawmaker is reportedly heard reprimanding the driver, calling it disrespectful to ask him to come outside to collect a delivery of snails, and allegedly threatening to “make the driver disappear” without repercussions.
