A magistrate court located in Kuje, Abuja, has officially granted bail in the amount of N500,000 to Alex Ikwechegh, who is a member of the House of Representatives.
This decision comes in the wake of allegations surrounding an assault on Stephen Abuwatseya, a driver for the ride-hailing service Bolt.
During the court proceedings on Wednesday, Ikwechegh was arraigned on three charges related to the incident, which include assault and making threats to life. These charges were filed by the Office of the Inspector-General of Police, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations against the lawmaker.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Ikwechegh maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty to all charges presented against him.
The case has garnered significant attention due to the involvement of a public official and the implications of the alleged misconduct. As the legal process unfolds, many are closely watching how this situation will develop and what it may mean for both Ikwechegh and the broader political landscape.
