President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has offered his warm congratulations to Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States.
Trump is poised to officially win the U.S. presidential election after securing over the 270 electoral votes required for victory.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed his eagerness to strengthen Nigeria-U.S. relations, especially amid the complex global challenges and opportunities of today.
Tinubu remarked, “Together, we can enhance economic cooperation, foster peace, and tackle the global issues impacting our people.”
He further stated that Trump’s victory represents the trust and confidence the American public has placed in his leadership and congratulated them for their steadfast commitment to democracy.
“Given President Trump’s previous experience as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, President Tinubu believes his return to office will usher in a new phase of robust and mutually beneficial economic and developmental cooperation between Africa and the United States.
“Recognizing the significant influence and global standing of the U.S., President Tinubu is confident that President Trump will work towards bringing the world closer to peace and prosperity,” the statement concluded.
