The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) recently shut down several facilities across the Lagos metropolis, citing noise pollution concerns.
The establishments affected include churches, lounges, nightclubs, bars, and hotels.
In a Wednesday statement, LASEPA General Manager Babatunde Ajayi highlighted that the action aligns with the agency’s mission to maintain environmental standards and protect public health.
“To tackle noise pollution and other environmental violations, LASEPA has moved to close various facilities across the state,” said Ajayi.
He explained that despite repeated warnings, these establishments continued to violate environmental regulations.
Reaffirming the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on non-compliance, he added, “We cannot allow our regulations to be disregarded.”
The enforcement operation targeted areas such as Ogudu, Gbagada, Iyana Ejigbo, Isolo, Ajao Estate, Oshodi, Ilasamaja, and Okota.
Among the establishments closed were Honourable Lounge & Lodging, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Celestial Church of God, OMA Night Club and Lounge, and Bridge Spot Bar. Also affected were Okiki Event Centre and Hall, Emota Paradise Hotel (Phase 2), CF Hotel & Suites, House 27 Hotel & Suites, Echo Spring Hotel, and Smile T Continental Hotel.
Ajayi encouraged businesses to meet their environmental responsibilities and support the government’s efforts for a cleaner, more sustainable Lagos.
