The National Assembly Service Commission has appointed Kamoru Ogunlana as the new Clerk of the National Assembly, succeeding Sani Magaji Tambuwal, who has begun his retirement leave.
This update was shared on Thursday through a statement by Emmanuel Onyigor, Deputy Director of Information for the National Assembly Commission.
According to a letter from Engr. Ahmed Kadi, Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Ogunlana’s term will start on January 2, 2025. The letter, issued after the Commission’s 610th meeting on November 6, 2024, formally confirmed Ogunlana’s role, effective February 2, 2025.
The Commission acknowledged Ogunlana’s appointment as a reflection of his strong work ethic and administrative skills and encouraged him to meet the expectations placed upon him.
It was earlier reported that approximately thirty senior officials, including Tambuwal, are expected to retire following President Bola Tinubu’s decision not to extend their tenure through a recent bill. Following standard protocol, Tambuwal began his pre-retirement leave on November 1, 2024, having assigned his duties to his deputy, Kamouroudeen Ogundele.
