President Tinubu Acknowledges Economic Hardships, Promises Relief and Long-Term Solutions
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has acknowledged the significant economic challenges currently facing Nigerians but reassured citizens that his administration is committed to providing relief. Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, President Tinubu addressed the ongoing economic difficulties in a statement made during the 70th birthday celebration of Pastor Tunde Bakare, the overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, in Lagos. While recognizing the strain many Nigerians are enduring, Tinubu expressed optimism about the future, stressing that the government’s initiatives to address the nation’s economic woes are well underway, although they will not yield immediate results.
“The president understands the hardships Nigerians are facing today,” Akume said on his behalf, “but at the end of the tunnel, there is always a ray of light.” He further added, “Solutions to such complex issues are not like instant coffee, but we are on the right track, and we will eventually overcome these challenges.”
Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Tinubu emphasized that it would take time for the full benefits of these measures to materialize, and he encouraged Nigerians to remain patient and steadfast as the government works through the issues. “Our solutions will take time to show results, but I assure you, the path we are taking is the right one,” said Akume.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, who also attended the celebration, offered words of encouragement, highlighting the resilience of Tinubu’s administration in navigating through these tough times. He commended the president and his team for their determination and unwavering commitment to steering the country out of its economic challenges. “Though the times are hard, we remain strong. We are tough, and we know that at the end of this tunnel, there is indeed a brighter future for all of us,” Sanwo-Olu remarked.
The president also took the opportunity to celebrate the remarkable life and leadership of Pastor Tunde Bakare, who was being honored on his milestone birthday. Tinubu described Bakare as an influential spiritual leader whose commitment to justice, powerful advocacy, and courage have made significant contributions to society. “Pastor Tunde Bakare’s life is a testament to strength, bravery, and a relentless pursuit of justice,” the president said, acknowledging his contributions as both a spiritual leader and an advocate for societal change.
