In response to a recent viral video circulating on social media, Peace Mass Transit (PMT) is addressing an incident that occurred on November 8, 2024, involving one of our buses, PMT 1678, en route from Mararaba to Enugu. During the journey, the bus experienced a mechanical issue near Otukpa, Benue State.
Following a thorough investigation, we wish to clarify the following:
- No Passenger Contributions Required: Contrary to online reports, no #1,000 contributions were required or collected from passengers. Although some passengers volunteered to contribute, the driver, adhering to company policy, declined and assured everyone that Peace Mass Transit management was covering the repair costs.
- Management-Approved Repairs: As soon as the issue arose, PMT management quickly authorized and sent the necessary #12,000 to the driver to cover the repair. This allowed for the swift purchase of the replacement part (center bearing) and resumption of the journey.
- Successful Arrival: We are pleased to report that all passengers, including the individual who posted the video, safely reached their destination after the repair was completed.
We ask the passenger who originally shared the video to issue a public apology and retract the misleading information within 72 hours. Peace Mass Transit stands firm in upholding its reputation and will not tolerate any attempt to misuse our name for social media followership.
At Peace Mass Transit, we remain committed to providing reliable and customer-centered service. We apologize for any distress this incident may have caused and thank our customers for their continued trust in our service.
