Human rights advocate and legal practitioner, Deji Adeyanju, has responded to the recent criticisms leveled against him by Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister and former governor of Rivers State.
Wike had accused Adeyanju of being unemployed, alleging that the Kogi-born activist had sought his support to become the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
During a press briefing in Abuja, Adeyanju fired back, calling Wike a “bully” and a “coward,” while vehemently rejecting the accusations. He said, “Wike has never held a genuine job in his life. He is nothing but a chronic betrayer. The only difference between Wike and the musician Portable is that Portable doesn’t betray those who have helped him.”
Adeyanju also praised Governor Fubara of Rivers State for taking strong action against Wike, stating, “Governor Fubara has shown how to handle tyrants. You strip them of their power, reduce their influence, and remind them that they are inconsequential without politics.”
He further criticized Wike for his alleged role in exploiting Nigeria’s political resources, claiming that Wike’s actions were driven by personal gain. “The reason Wike is constantly making noise and stirring controversy is because of the political wealth he has accumulated through looting,” Adeyanju remarked. “People like him, clowns and charlatans, have no place in the nation-building process.”
Adeyanju dismissed Wike’s comments about his activism, calling them hypocritical. “Wike, who has never stood for anything substantial, has the audacity to criticize me for my activism,” Adeyanju said. “He wants a political system dominated by corrupt individuals like himself. But true patriots, those with a conscience, must rise and actively participate in politics to build a better nation.”
