Nollywood veteran Stephen Alajemba, widely known by his stage name Uwaezuoke, has sparked controversy by claiming that it is a sin for a man to marry fewer than three wives. In a recent interview with Ugwumba TV, Uwaezuoke shared his unconventional perspective on marriage, stating that men who marry just one or two wives are at risk of being harmed by their spouses.
According to Uwaezuoke, “It’s a sin to marry one or two wives,” explaining that men who choose to marry more than two will avoid the dangers he believes accompany smaller unions. He went on to argue that a man who marries more than two wives will be free from the risks of being poisoned or harmed by one of his wives, suggesting that a larger family arrangement creates a safer environment. “If you marry one wife, your life is at risk. The safety of the man is in the hands of the security. If you marry two wives, they will conspire to poison you,” he said.
However, Uwaezuoke believes that marrying three or more wives offers a form of protection: “But if you marry three or more wives, they will all be on their own, and you will just be providing for them. You will take turns with their meals and bedrooms.” His comments have certainly raised eyebrows, as they challenge the traditional norms of marriage and relationships in society.
In addition to his views on marriage, Uwaezuoke recently opened up about the difficulties he faced growing up, including feelings of rejection due to his physical appearance. In an interview with popular YouTuber Yan Kontent Factory, the actor revealed that his mother had shared with him how people avoided holding him as a baby because he was not considered attractive. Despite the challenges, Uwaezuoke promised his mother that he would make her proud. He also shared his struggles with relationships, admitting that he faced rejection from women during his younger years. “Ladies would run away when they saw my face,” he said. The actor did not attract a lover until he was 20 years old and eventually married his first love at the age of 23.
