The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with the killing of a police officer, Ibrahim Maizabuwa. The suspects, identified as Ezekiel Kefas, 67, and Stephen Zabadi, 44, both from Wamsa Suwa Ward in Lamurde Local Government Area, were apprehended following a report from the officer’s son, Danlami Ibrahim Maizabuwa, on November 19, 2024.
Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the arrests and provided details of the investigation. According to Nguroje, the investigation revealed that Officer Maizabuwa was killed and buried in the community after visiting his friend, Ezekiel Kefas.
During questioning, Kefas claimed that a group of thugs had attacked the officer after he allegedly destroyed property and assaulted people at Kefas’ home. Kefas recounted the incident, stating, “My friend came and began destroying property, including a pot of soup and water, and assaulted people. This caused an alarm, which attracted thugs who beat him to death.”
Kefas further identified those involved in the attack, mentioning individuals named Yakubu, Suleiman, and Kilyobas, who allegedly beat the officer with sticks until he died. Kefas also mentioned that they later visited the homes of those implicated but found no one present.
Following the arrest, Adamawa State’s Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and vowed to ensure the suspects face prosecution. The police are continuing to gather evidence to determine the full circumstances surrounding the officer’s death and bring those responsible to justice.
