A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and experienced public administrator, Hon. Khairat Animashaun-Ajiboye, has expressed concern over recent rumors regarding the alleged endorsement of Seyi Tinubu for the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
She described the development as a calculated attempt to distract from the achievements and ongoing efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
In her remarks, Animashaun-Ajiboye cautioned against premature political endorsements driven by self-interest or overzealousness, stressing the need to remain focused on governance and development.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is tirelessly working alongside his dedicated team to deliver impactful governance and inclusive leadership that benefits all Nigerians,” she stated. “The endorsement campaign is a clear display of youthful exuberance and a deliberate strategy to undermine the President’s administration.”
She also pointed out that the Lagos APC has officially disassociated itself from the endorsement saga, emphasizing that the party’s current priorities lie elsewhere. According to her, the 2027 governorship election is not on the party’s immediate agenda, as the focus remains on the upcoming Congress and Local Government Elections scheduled for 2025.
“The Lagos APC has made it clear that it does not endorse these premature discussions. Our attention is on fostering unity within the party and ensuring success in the forthcoming local elections,” Animashaun-Ajiboye added.
She further advocated for a governorship candidate who truly embodies the aspirations of Lagosians. “Lagos deserves a selfless and dynamic leader—a younger, genuine Lagosian who understands the struggles of the poor, the challenges faced by the middle class, the hopes of the business community, and the aspirations of those working towards a prosperous Lagos State.”
Animashaun-Ajiboye’s remarks serve as a call for discipline and focus within the APC, urging members to prioritize collective progress over divisive politics. She emphasized that unity and good governance should remain at the forefront of the party’s objectives as they navigate the political challenges ahead.
