Former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Chidoka shared this decision during an appearance on Politics Today, a political program aired by Channels Television on Friday. Explaining his reasons, he highlighted a desire to focus on other priorities, particularly his non-profit organization, the Athena Centre, which is dedicated to fostering political reform and evidence-based governance in Nigeria.
In his statement, Chidoka revealed that he had formally informed his ward in Anambra State of his decision to leave the party. “Earlier today, I sent a letter to my ward in Anambra State resigning officially from the PDP. I am leaving the PDP, I am leaving politics for some time, and I am focusing on the Athena Centre,” he said.
Chidoka further emphasized that his exit from active politics would provide him with the opportunity to collaborate with Nigerians who share his vision of a better political system. He expressed a firm commitment to driving meaningful reforms and advancing governance practices rooted in data and transparency.
Osita Chidoka has had a distinguished career in public service. Before serving as Minister of Aviation, he was the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), where he played a significant role in enhancing road safety and transportation systems in the country.
Although his resignation marks a pause in his political career, Chidoka’s continued focus on societal reforms and governance underscores his dedication to Nigeria’s progress.
