Four Injured in Building Collapse at Banex Junction During Ongoing Construction
A building collapse at the popular Banex Junction in Abuja has left four people injured, according to reports. The incident occurred on Tuesday when a section of the Samsung building, located on Aminu Kano Crescent, collapsed during ongoing construction work.
It is important to note that the building was previously destroyed by fire last year, and the ongoing construction had been focused on rebuilding it.
Nkechi Isa, the head of the Public Affairs Department of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FCT-EMA), confirmed the collapse. She explained that the incident took place when the penthouse section of the three-storey building fell during a casting process, resulting in injuries to three workers on site.
Isa further clarified that, fortunately, there were no fatalities. Four out of the ten workers present at the scene were taken to Wuse General Hospital for medical treatment. Emergency response teams are continuing to monitor the situation, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the collapse.
