Governor Monday Okpebholo Appoints Dr. Mrs. Anthonia Inibokun Njoku as New Chief Medical Director of Edo Specialist Hospital

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has announced the appointment of Dr. Mrs. Anthonia Inibokun Njoku (nee Ebare) as the new Chief Medical Director of Edo Specialist Hospital, Benin City. The appointment takes effect on December 4, 2024, as confirmed by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Musa Ikhilor, in a statement to Naija News.

Dr. Mrs. Njoku brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. She is a graduate of the College of Medical Sciences at the University of Maiduguri, and she has furthered her education through several prestigious institutions, including the West African College of Surgeons, the West Africa Bioethics Institution in Ibadan, the University of Benin, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, where she obtained various qualifications, including a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), MSc in Reproductive Health, Diploma in Bioethics, and a Certificate in Principles and Practice of Clinical Research.

She is also a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, and has held leadership roles in professional associations such as the Nigeria Medical Association and the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN). Additionally, she is a member of the Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria and the Medical Women’s Association.

Dr. Njoku has held several notable positions in the healthcare sector. Prior to her appointment, she was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the College of Medical Sciences, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and an Honorary Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State.

Her appointment is expected to bring fresh leadership and vision to the Edo Specialist Hospital, continuing the state’s commitment to improving healthcare services for its residents.
