Moses Ambakina Jituboh, a former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has passed away at the age of 54. His death, which followed a brief illness, was confirmed to The Punch on Friday night.
A close source disclosed that plans are underway to perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. “Yes, your information is correct. I can confirm that he (Moses Jituboh) is dead. Efforts are currently ongoing to carry out an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death,” the source said.
Jituboh served as Jonathan’s ADC during his time as Governor of Bayelsa State and later as Vice President. When Jonathan assumed the presidency, Jituboh remained a key figure in his security team. After Jonathan left office in 2015, Jituboh returned to active duty in the Nigeria Police Force, where he was considered for the position of Inspector General of Police but ultimately did not secure the appointment.
The Zone 16 Police Command extended condolences to the Jituboh family and the people of Bayelsa State, describing his death as a significant loss. In a statement issued on Saturday, Zonal Public Relations Officer Emonena Gunn highlighted Jituboh’s distinguished service.
Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 16, Adebola Hamzat, also paid tribute to Jituboh, emphasizing his contributions to the police force and the nation.
“DIG Moses Ambakina Jituboh, mni, was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. His death is a great loss to his immediate family, Bayelsa State, the Nigeria Police, and the country at large,” the statement read.
Jituboh’s career spanned decades, during which he served as Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) in charge of the Department of Research and Planning and the Department of Information & Communications Technology (ICT) at the Force Headquarters. He retired from service in 2023.
The statement added, “His contributions to the Nigeria Police Force, dedication to service, and integrity will never be forgotten. It is our prayer that God gives the immediate family the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.”
On behalf of Zone 16, AIG Adebola Hamzat expressed heartfelt condolences, noting, “The passing of DIG Moses Ambakina Jituboh is a great loss not only to his family but to the entire Nigeria Police Force and the nation.”
Jituboh’s legacy as a dedicated officer and public servant will be remembered fondly by his colleagues and community.
