Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has praised the remarkable character and dedication of human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, for his continued commitment to the pursuit of good governance in Nigeria.
Gists9ja reports that Obi, who also served as the Governor of Anambra State, expressed admiration for Farotimi’s courage, highlighting how the lawyer has remained steadfast in his advocacy for a better Nigeria, despite facing personal challenges.
The former governor shared that he had the opportunity to meet with Farotimi on Thursday in Lagos, after concluding his meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo. This meeting was significant, as it was Obi’s first opportunity to reconnect with Farotimi since the lawyer’s return from a correctional facility in Ekiti State, following his legal dispute with Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afe Babalola, in a defamation case.
On Friday, Obi took to his X account to share his thoughts, stating, “Yesterday, following my visit and meeting with President Obasanjo, I made time to visit my dear younger brother, Dele Farotimi. Since his return from the correctional center in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him. I was pleased to find him in good spirits and deeply encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria.”
Obi continued his tribute by acknowledging Farotimi’s exceptional courage, stating, “@DeleFarotimi exemplifies courage in the face of adversity, consistently taking bold stands for good governance in our nation.” He went on to wish Farotimi a productive and successful year ahead, as they continue to work together toward improving the country.
