The Benue State Working Committee (SWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has nominated former governor Samuel Ortom as a member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT).
Gists9ja reports that this announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Tim Nyor. The nomination follows the expiration of the terms of the previous BoT members.
In accordance with Sections 32(1)(g) and 32(4) of the PDP Constitution, the nomination was formally communicated through a letter from the party secretariat to Ortom, signed by the party Secretary, Dan Nyikwagh.
The PDP recognized Ortom’s extensive experience and unwavering dedication to the party, describing him as an ideal candidate for the prestigious position. According to Nyor, the SWC, chaired by Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Awulu Adaji, unanimously endorsed Ortom’s nomination after careful consideration, acknowledging his significant contributions to the party, exemplary leadership, and commitment to the PDP’s progress.
The SWC emphasized that Ortom’s new role would help strengthen the party’s influence and strategic direction, particularly in preparation for upcoming elections. The PDP expressed confidence that his contributions to the BoT would bolster the party’s unity in Benue and ensure the state’s interests are well-represented within the national framework.
With this nomination, Ortom is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the PDP’s policies and direction, not just in Benue State but across the nation, further enhancing the party’s influence.
