
The naira saw a notable appreciation in the official foreign exchange market, closing the week stronger.
According to data from FMDQ, the naira strengthened to N1,531.20 per dollar on Friday, up from N1,548.59 on Thursday, marking a gain of N17.39.
In the black market, the naira also saw a slight gain, closing at N1,660 per dollar on Friday, compared to N1,650 on Thursday.
For the week, the naira recorded an overall gain, strengthening by N16.38 per dollar on a week-on-week basis.
This improvement aligns with positive statements made by Olayemi Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, who projected that the country’s economy would experience growth in 2025.
