Presidency: We Are Not Concerned, El-Rufai Can’t Win A Senate Seat On His Own

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has asserted that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, lacks the political independence to succeed without the backing of strong revolutionary figures.

Bwala made this claim on Thursday, emphasizing that President Tinubu remains unbothered by El-Rufai’s recent public statements. According to him, the former governor’s political relevance is tied to his association with influential personalities rather than his own ability to command widespread support.

In his assessment, Bwala suggested that El-Rufai’s influence might not be enough to secure a Senate seat if he were to contest independently. Speaking in an interview with TVC, he remarked:

“Let me tell you something about my elder brother, El-Rufai. His political survival depends on the presence of a strong revolutionary figure. Standing alone, he may struggle to win even a Senate seat.”
