Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won over the people of the state, leaving opposition parties struggling for relevance.
Speaking on Friday, the governor made this declaration while welcoming APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and other party leaders who were in Imo for the commissioning of newly completed roads.
APC’s Expansion into Rural Areas
Uzodinma credited the APC’s growing influence to its human-oriented projects, which he said had reached the rural areas and contributed to the party’s landslide victories in the state’s Local Government Area (LGA) elections.
He argued that opposition parties in Imo have become insignificant due to the visible progress and development under APC’s leadership.
Elections Prove APC’s Dominance
Reflecting on recent State House of Assembly and LGA elections, Uzodinma noted that the APC secured nearly all elective positions, a sign that opposition voices have diminished in the state.
Expressing confidence in the APC’s continued success, the governor pledged to sustain efforts in infrastructure development and human capital growth.
Uzodinma’s Commitment to Development
Addressing the APC leadership, Uzodinma said:
“I can testify to you, Mr. Chairman, that as a party, we have won the hearts of Imo people through our superlative performance in the last five years.
“The party has been fully entrenched here because the people can relate to our developmental initiatives.
“The APC government has brought the state back on track, and moving forward is the only assurance.”
With APC’s stronghold in Imo growing, the political landscape in the state continues to shift, raising questions about the future of opposition parties ahead of upcoming elections.
