
The Nigerian film industry has been plunged into mourning following the unexpected death of renowned movie director Rotimi Raji, popularly known as Genius.
His passing has left a deep void in Nollywood, where he was widely respected for his exceptional cinematographic skills and storytelling prowess.
According to reports, Raji tragically passed away after collapsing in his bathroom, just a day after the Valentine’s Day celebration. The filmmaker, who resided alone in the Baruwa, Ipaja area of Lagos, was discovered by a concerned neighbor who had repeatedly called out to him but received no response.
Sensing that something was amiss, the neighbor noticed an open window and decided to take a closer look inside. To their shock and heartbreak, they found Raji lying lifeless on the floor.
Confirming the devastating news, actor Lanre Adediwura took to social media to pay tribute to the late director, expressing his grief and appreciation for Raji’s contributions to the industry. He wrote:
“Till we meet again, my friend @rotimiraji. Thank you for blessing the film industry with your exceptional talent. Every moment you captured with the lens will speak after you. Rest on, champ.”

Raji was celebrated for his unique creative direction and cinematography, playing a crucial role in shaping Nollywood’s visual storytelling. His untimely demise has left colleagues, friends, and fans in deep sorrow, with tributes pouring in from all corners of the industry.
