Why Osinbajo Will Always Remain My Friend – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on the occasion of his 68th birthday, acknowledging his contributions to Nigeria’s governance and legal reforms.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu reaffirmed his longstanding friendship with Osinbajo, describing him as a close ally and associate. The President highlighted Osinbajo’s dedication to public service and his significant role in shaping policies during his tenure as Vice President from 2015 to 2023.

Reflecting on Osinbajo’s impact, Tinubu recalled how the former Vice President showcased leadership and competence when he briefly assumed the role of Acting President while former President Muhammadu Buhari was on medical leave in the United Kingdom. He praised Osinbajo’s ability to make decisive governance decisions during that period.

The President also acknowledged Osinbajo’s participation in the 2023 All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries, where he contested against him. According to Tinubu, Osinbajo exercised his democratic rights in the party’s internal election, reinforcing his commitment to democratic principles.

A Legacy of Legal and Political Reforms

Going further, Tinubu reminisced about their time working together in Lagos State, where Osinbajo served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during his governorship. He credited Osinbajo with playing a crucial role in implementing judicial and political reforms that strengthened governance in the state.

Tinubu commended Osinbajo’s ability to work harmoniously within the APC-led administration, emphasizing that his tenure was marked by stability and cooperation.

Wishes for the Future

Concluding his message, President Tinubu joined Osinbajo’s family, particularly his wife Dolapo and their children, as well as friends and associates, in celebrating this milestone. He wished him continued success, good health, and more achievements in the years ahead.

As he marks his 68th birthday, his legacy as a reformer and public servant continues to inspire many within and beyond Nigeria.
