Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially accepted the resignation of Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd.), who served as the Commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services.
Idris, a retired senior military officer, was appointed to the role in August 2024 as part of the governor’s efforts to enhance security and special operations within the state.
In an official statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf expressed deep appreciation for Idris’ contributions to the state during his brief tenure.
“We sincerely appreciate Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd.) for his dedication and service to Kano State. His commitment, from his distinguished military career to his role in public service, has been invaluable. We wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement as he transitions into a well-deserved rest from active duty,” the governor stated.
Governor Yusuf also commended Idris for playing a pivotal role in establishing the foundation of the ministry, noting that his successor would have a solid platform to build upon for continued success.
The resignation of Idris comes just a few months after another commissioner, Mohammed Diggol, stepped down from his position as Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation on January 5, 2025.
The Kano State government is yet to announce a replacement for Idris, but expectations are high regarding who will take over the critical role of overseeing internal security matters in the state.
