Emana Ambrose-Amawhe, who served as the deputy governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections in Cross River State, has formally stepped down from the party.
In a resignation letter dated March 28, 2025, addressed to the chairman of Edem Odo Ward in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Ambrose-Amawhe announced her immediate departure from the party. Her letter highlighted deep reflections on the party’s current situation as a key factor in her decision to leave.
Ambrose-Amawhe expressed appreciation for the roles and opportunities she held within the PDP, including her candidacy for the deputy governorship position. However, she emphasized that after careful consideration, she concluded that it was time to move on.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effective immediately. I am deeply grateful for the experiences and responsibilities I was entrusted with during my time in the party. Serving as the Deputy Governorship Candidate in the last general election was an honor, and I appreciate the platform I was given to contribute to our political landscape,” she stated in the letter.
She reiterated her commitment to the development of Cross River State and Nigeria, stating that while she was leaving the PDP, her passion for public service remained strong. Ambrose-Amawhe assured her supporters that she would continue working towards the betterment of society through other avenues.
“Being part of the PDP provided me with an opportunity to engage with the people and work towards our shared vision. However, given the present realities within the party, I have come to the difficult conclusion that it is time to take a different path. Nonetheless, my dedication to serving my community and contributing to the advancement of our state and nation remains unwavering,” she added.
