Former spokesperson of the Peter Obi and Datti Ahmed Campaign Organization, Nana Sani Kazaure, has categorically denied allegations that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, provided financial support to Peter Obi’s presidential campaign.
Kazaure stated that the former Labour Party presidential candidate personally confirmed to her that no such donation was received from Governor Sanwo-Olu.
Clarification on Alleged Political Funding
In a statement issued on Saturday, Kazaure described the claim as a deliberate attempt to undermine the Lagos State Governor, attributing it to political forces seeking to remove him from office.
She further urged those involved in the controversy to exclude Peter Obi from their political disputes with Governor Sanwo-Olu.
Kazaure’s Official Statement
“A few days ago, a false and unsubstantiated report began circulating in certain media platforms, alleging that His Excellency, Peter Obi, received campaign funds from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State during the 2023 general elections.
“Firstly, HE Peter Obi personally informed me, and I would like to state unequivocally that he has never received any financial contributions from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, either directly or indirectly.
“As for the alleged courier of this so-called donation, beyond what is publicly known about Aisha Achimugu’s philanthropic activities, Peter Obi has never had any form of dealings with her. Any claims suggesting otherwise are entirely false and misleading.
“Those orchestrating this smear campaign should at least make an effort to be more intelligent in crafting their falsehoods. If certain political elements in Abuja have decided to push for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s removal, they should keep His Excellency, Peter Obi, out of their scheming and manipulations.”
