BREAKING: Tinubu Extends Tenure of Immigration CG, Kemi Nandap

President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of Kemi Nandap’s tenure as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) until December 31, 2026.

Nandap, who began her career with the NIS on October 9, 1989, was appointed as Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024. Her initial tenure was set to conclude on August 31, 2025, but the new extension will allow her to continue in the role for an additional period.

In a statement released on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended Nandap for her leadership and the progress achieved in key areas such as border security, immigration modernization, and national security enhancement under her administration.

The statement further emphasized the improvements within the NIS since Nandap assumed office, highlighting her contributions to advancing the agency’s core mandate. These include strengthening border security, streamlining immigration processes, and implementing measures to bolster national security.

President Tinubu praised Nandap for her commitment and urged her to sustain her focus on strategic priorities that align with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Reaffirming his support for the NIS, Tinubu reiterated his administration’s dedication to enhancing border management and ensuring safe, legal migration for Nigerians.
