Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have intercepted a long container truck transporting 70,000 liters of stolen petroleum products in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
Gists9ja reports that the truck, which had a concealed inbuilt storage tank, was impounded as part of an intelligence-driven operation carried out by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad of the NSCDC.
In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) page, the NSCDC confirmed the operation, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to combating oil theft and illegal bunkering in Rivers State and across the Niger Delta region.
According to the statement, the successful interception followed extensive intelligence gathering on the activities of oil thieves operating within the region.
“The NSCDC Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad has impounded a long container truck carrying 70,000 liters of stolen petroleum products, which were hidden inside an inbuilt storage tank in Port Harcourt,” the statement read.
The NSCDC further reiterated its determination to dismantle illicit oil trade networks and bring perpetrators to justice, assuring the public of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s economic resources.
