‘You Should Expect Me Back To Senate In 2027’ – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has officially declared his intention to contest for the senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

Gists9ja reports that Sani, who represented the district in the 8th National Assembly, made his announcement on Sunday, March 30, 2025, during his Eid-el-Fitr message at his residence in Kaduna.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain also emphasized his commitment to ensuring the re-election of Governor Uba Sani in 2027. He stated that the party is fully prepared to tackle any opposition or challenges that may arise in the bid to secure another term for the governor.

“Any politician planning to contest in an election must assess the political landscape to determine the most strategic position to vie for,” Sani stated. “If the conditions are right and the political calculations favor it, I will offer myself to contest for the central senatorial district.”

He further added, “If the people of Kaduna Central desire a leadership and representation that aligns with our vision at the National Assembly, they should expect me back in the Senate in 2027.”

For now, Sani reaffirmed his primary focus on Governor Uba Sani’s re-election, expressing the party’s readiness to mobilize all necessary resources and efforts. “We are determined to see the incumbent governor re-elected. We will approach this with full strength and dedication. While we anticipate opposition and challenges, we are well-prepared to confront all forces that stand in our way,” he affirmed.

In addition to his political aspirations, Sani took the opportunity to condemn the recent killing of hunters in Edo State. He called on security agencies to swiftly investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“If citizens of this country cannot move freely from one part of the nation to another without fear, then we are failing as a nation,” he remarked. “Lawlessness should never be tolerated. If individuals take the law into their own hands without consequences, it signals a breakdown of government authority.”

Sani’s declaration has sparked discussions within political circles in Kaduna State, with analysts speculating on the implications of his return to the Senate race and the broader political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections.
