
A tragic incident occurred in Southern Kaduna on Sunday, where a lightning strike reportedly killed a herder and about 12 cows.
According to a report by Daily Trust, the event took place in Matuak Giwa, Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom, within Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Village Head of Matuak Giwa, Simon Ayuba, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that the young herder had been seeking shelter from the rain alongside his cattle when the lightning struck, resulting in their immediate death.
“The herder, along with 12 cows, died on the spot. It was a tragic occurrence that has left the community in shock,” Ayuba remarked.
Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, the Ardo of Bondon District, also verified the event, revealing that the deceased herder was originally from Bauchi State.
Expressing deep sorrow, Tanko called for prayers and support for the bereaved family, noting that the victim had been laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
