The Delta State Police Command has uncovered the body of 38-year-old Chigozie Udalor, a site engineer, who was allegedly killed and buried in a shallow grave by his own employees.
The revelation came in a video statement shared by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on Thursday.
Udalor, who had been hired by his cousin to oversee a construction project, employed four young men from Benue State to assist him on the job. However, on December 10, 2024, the workers reportedly conspired to murder Udalor. The suspects attacked him with a hammer, striking his head before burying his body at the construction site in an attempt to conceal the crime.
The police statement read, “A tragic incident involving 38-year-old Chigozie Udalor, employed by his cousin as a site engineer. Udalor had hired four workers from Benue State. On December 10, 2024, they conspired to murder him, using a hammer to strike his head before burying him in a shallow grave at the site.”
The body was exhumed on April 2, 2025, following the arrest of two of the suspects involved in the crime. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, with the remaining suspects still at large.
This gruesome act has shocked the local community and raised concerns about the safety of workers in the region. Police are committed to bringing all those responsible for the murder to justice.
