VP Shettima Jets Off To Senegal 24-hours After Tinubu Departs For France

Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Dakar, Senegal, where he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary celebrations.

The event, scheduled for April 4, commemorates Senegal’s liberation from French colonial rule in 1960.

Senegal’s Independence Day is a significant national occasion, celebrated with a series of ceremonies, parades, and cultural events that highlight the nation’s pride and independence.

Shettima’s attendance is in response to an invitation extended by Senegalese President Faye Diomaye, underscoring the strong and mutually beneficial relationship between Nigeria and Senegal. The Independence Day celebrations will take place at the Place de la Nation in Dakar, where President Faye will host Shettima alongside other distinguished dignitaries from across Africa and beyond.

This trip comes just a day after President Tinubu departed Nigeria for a two-week working visit to France.
