Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has addressed the long-standing rumors accusing her of being the person behind the popular but faceless Instagram blog, Gistlover.
During a conversation with comedian AY Makun on a podcast, Iyabo Ojo explained that much of the gossip spread by the blog is often leaked by individuals who are close to the people involved.
She shared that the majority of the information posted by Gistlover is either partially or completely inaccurate, though some details might hold truth. According to Iyabo, “One thing I discovered about Gistlover is that it’s often people close to you who share these details with the blogger. At times, the information is entirely wrong, but it’s still passed along. Some of it is correct, but much of it is false.”
The actress also raised doubts about the credibility of the faceless blogger, questioning whether proper verification is conducted before publishing the posts. She further revealed that many of the gossip pieces published by Gistlover were, in fact, shared by her colleagues in the entertainment industry.
In a surprising twist, Iyabo Ojo expressed her shock at being accused of being the mastermind behind Gistlover. She questioned the motives behind such an accusation, highlighting the absurdity of her allegedly posting personal details about her life and dragging her daughter’s name through the mud on the platform. “Some people came out to say I am Gistlover. I was stunned.
Why would I want to destroy my reputation, and my daughter’s, for the sake of money or fame? Especially with the false stories of threesomes and other scandals that went viral—why would I put my family through that?” she questioned.
Iyabo’s strong reaction highlights her belief that the rumors and gossip circulating on social media platforms are often fueled by unreliable sources and malicious intent.
