The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, hosted a private dinner on Monday night in the United Kingdom for the suspended members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
This development was confirmed by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, who shared details of the gathering.
According to Olayinka, Wike left Nigeria on Sunday evening following a series of engagements with his close political allies and associates in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The dinner is seen as part of Wike’s continued efforts to maintain influence over political developments in Rivers State amid ongoing tensions within the state assembly.
While the purpose of the meeting has not been officially disclosed, political observers suggest it may be linked to ongoing power struggles in Rivers politics, where factions loyal to Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara remain at odds.
