Jude Ezenwafor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer for the upcoming Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 8, has pledged to make the welfare of Anambra residents his topmost priority if elected into office.
Ezenwafor, who officially emerged as the PDP candidate on Tuesday, made this commitment in a statement where he expressed his vision for a prosperous and inclusive Anambra. He emphasized that his administration would be driven by practical solutions to pressing issues, and rooted in people-oriented policies.
According to him, the time has come to consolidate on past achievements and usher in a new era of leadership focused on the needs and aspirations of the citizens. He also revealed that he draws inspiration from former Governors Chris Ngige and Peter Obi, whose governance styles he described as impactful and exemplary.
“As your candidate and governorship hopeful, I assure you that the welfare of our people will not just be a talking point—it will be the heartbeat of my administration. I will focus on job creation to drive economic growth, and ensure our young people have real opportunities to thrive,” Ezenwafor declared.
He further assured Anambra residents that his campaign would center on developmental issues rather than political rhetoric or personal attacks. He called on party stakeholders, supporters, and the general public to rally behind his candidacy for the good of the state.
“My campaign will be issue-based, and I intend to engage directly with Ndi Anambra to understand their concerns and work collectively towards sustainable solutions. Governance is about service, and I’m ready to serve with integrity and purpose.”
Reflecting on the state’s leadership history, Ezenwafor said he was honored to follow in the footsteps of leaders like Dr. Chris Ngige and Mr. Peter Obi, both of whom made significant contributions to Anambra’s socio-economic development.
“These men showed what visionary leadership can accomplish, and they’ve laid solid foundations. But the journey to progress is ongoing. There is still much to be done, and I bring my own experience and dedication to move Anambra forward,” he said.
