For five months, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) has withheld N134,400 belonging to a Lagos resident who simply wishes to be identified as Oluwadamilola.
The sum had been stuck with the bank ever since Oluwadamilola attempted transferring it to a beneficiary company that operates a Sterling Bank account on November 21.
“As we speak, the N134,400 has still not been reversed to my account by GTB account,” Oluwadamilola told FIJ on Friday.
“Not a single response has also been issued to me since I sent them multiple emails, requesting that my money be reversed to my account.

“It’s been six months and my N134,400 has not been returned to me by GTB. I am beyond shocked. I don’t even know what to say on the matter anymore.”
Gists9ja recall that on December 27, FIJ published a story detailing how the Lagos resident made a transfer of N134,400 to a beneficiary who operates a Sterling Bank account, and the recipient, a company, never received it.
After she waited for many days and the sum was neither reversed nor pushed to the recipient, she sent emails to both GTB and Sterling Bank, seeking to know the status of the transaction.
In the end, only Sterling Bank responded to her, stating that the money was not in its possession. The bank advised her to liaise with GTB for a resolution.
When she liaised with GTB with the transaction ID, she did not receive any helpful response from the financial institution.
