Four Killed in Renewed Cult Clash in Delta Community

A violent confrontation between suspected rival cult groups has claimed the lives of four individuals in Jesse, a community in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Sources from the area revealed that the deadly clash, allegedly involving members of the Eiye and Vikings confraternities, began on Saturday evening. Two individuals reportedly lost their lives during the initial encounter. The violence escalated into Sunday, leading to two additional fatalities.

One of the first victims has been identified as a well-known online entrepreneur in the community, popularly called “Canada.” The identities and affiliations of the remaining deceased individuals remain unconfirmed, and it is unclear whether all the victims were cult members or innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.

As of the time of filing this report, palpable tension has enveloped Jesse, with residents expressing fear over the potential for further violence.

Efforts to reach the Delta State Police Command for an official statement have been unsuccessful. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, has not responded to phone calls, text messages, or WhatsApp inquiries regarding the incident.
