The Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, has stirred conversation with a bold proclamation that both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State will each complete two full terms in office, amounting to eight years of leadership. According to the former Ebonyi State governor, this revelation came directly from God.
Umahi made this statement during the official flag-off ceremony for the second phase of the Kaduna-Abuja-Kano highway reconstruction project, an event attended by key government officials, traditional leaders, and members of the public. The highway project is considered a strategic infrastructure effort aimed at enhancing economic connectivity and improving road safety in Northern Nigeria.
During his remarks, Umahi stated, “I want to assure you, my dear governor, Uba Sani, that I’m also a prophet. It was only David in the Bible who was both a prophet and a king, but God has revealed to me that you will do eight years, and Bola Ahmed Tinubu will also complete eight years in office as president.”
A Message to the Critics
The Minister seized the opportunity to address growing criticisms of the Tinubu administration, particularly from opposition parties and political coalitions. He stressed the importance of constructive engagement in a democracy, urging critics to offer practical alternatives rather than launching baseless attacks.
“It is easy to criticize when you are not the one in charge. But responsible opposition is not about tearing down; it is about building up,” Umahi emphasized. “If you’re not happy with a government policy, bring forward a better option. What I see, however, is an opposition that only complains but offers no solutions.”
Commending Economic Reforms
Umahi also highlighted the recent commendation from international financial institutions such as the World Bank and other rating agencies, which noted improvements in Nigeria’s economic outlook under President Tinubu’s reform agenda.
He explained that these reforms, though tough, are beginning to yield measurable results. “Just a few days ago, the World Bank and other key financial institutions confirmed that Nigeria’s economy is gradually stabilizing. Our financial ratings have improved, and confidence is returning to the market,” he said.
Faith in Nigeria’s Future
In a moment of optimism, Umahi called for national unity and patience, reiterating his faith in Nigeria’s progress under the current leadership.
“Nigeria is working. The worst is behind us. We must not lose hope. God is with us, and He will surely lead this country to the promised land,” he declared, drawing applause from the audience.
He concluded his speech by reiterating his confidence in President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani’s leadership and called on Nigerians to support their efforts to transform the country.
