Evangelist Drags Veekee James For Claiming ‘Holy Spirit’ Inspired Her To Design Priscilla Ojo’s Wedding Outfit

Nigerian evangelist Benita Okeke has publicly called out popular fashion designer Veekee James for attributing divine inspiration to the creation of Priscilla Ojo’s wedding gown.

Following the highly publicized wedding of Priscilla Ojo, daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, and her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, Veekee James shared a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the bride’s outfit. In a detailed video, the designer walked fans through the creative process, revealing that she had been physically drained and suffering from vocal strain during the production.

Veekee explained that during a moment of exhaustion, she prayed for divine help and claimed that the Holy Spirit guided her through the design process, giving her clarity and vision.

However, this statement sparked backlash from Evangelist Okeke, who released a strongly worded video criticizing the spiritual implications of such a claim. She questioned the modesty of the wedding dress, arguing that it did not reflect Christian values or the kind of inspiration that could genuinely come from the Holy Spirit.

“The dress was far from modest,” Okeke asserted. “Can we truly say the Holy Spirit would lead someone to design an outfit that does not uphold decency? When we start labeling everything as spiritual inspiration, especially things that promote worldliness, we risk misrepresenting God.”

She further warned that not every idea or inspiration—even for believers—originates from God. “Sometimes, our desires, emotions, or external influences can play a bigger role than we realize,” she added.

The incident has sparked online debates, with some supporting the evangelist’s viewpoint on modesty and others defending Veekee James’ expression of creativity and faith.
